NEXUS

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about the Nexus approach to couple-focused finance

When will Nexus be available?

We're targeting Phase 1 launch in 2026 as a Personal Finance Management app that connects to your existing banks. This will include our core Budget Boss system, Accords framework, and Co-op features. Full banking automation (Phase 2) will follow based on user adoption and regulatory approval.

How much will Nexus cost?

We're committed to transparent, fair pricing that aligns with our constitutional principles. Early access users will receive preferential rates and grandfathered pricing. We believe financial tools should be accessible, not extractive. Detailed pricing will be announced before Phase 1 launch.

Is Nexus only for married couples?

Not at all! Nexus is designed for any two people sharing financial goals and decisions—married couples, de facto partnerships, engaged couples, or any committed relationship where financial collaboration makes sense. The system adapts to your relationship structure, not the other way around.

How does the Personal Account Sanctuary work?

Your Personal Account is architecturally and cryptographically isolated from all shared systems. Your salary flows there first, and it remains completely private—your partner cannot see your personal spending details, transaction history, or balance. Money moves to shared systems only through your explicit consent via Accords.

What if my partner and I disagree about financial decisions?

Nexus includes mediation protocols and cooling-off periods specifically for this scenario. Major financial changes require dual authorization and include a 24-hour delay. If disagreements persist, our Ratification & Mediation Protocol helps couples work through conflicts without anyone having unilateral control.

How do you prevent financial abuse?

Anti-coercion protection is built into Nexus's constitutional framework, not added as an afterthought. This includes Personal Account sovereignty, Silent Duress Signals, Time-Delayed Accords, and Staged Severance Protocols. Every feature is designed to be difficult to weaponize while remaining easy to use legitimately.

What's the difference between Nexus and other budgeting apps?

Traditional budgeting apps are built for individuals and treat couples as an afterthought. Nexus is built from the ground up for partnerships, with constitutional protections, dual-consent systems, and collaborative features that turn financial management into a team effort rather than a source of conflict.

Can I use Nexus if I have irregular income?

Absolutely! The Resilience Engine's Pay Smoothing feature is specifically designed for variable income. It analyzes your income patterns over 3-6 months to create a stable "Smoothed Income Number," automatically saving surplus during good weeks and topping up during lean weeks.

What happens to my data if I break up with my partner?

Each partner maintains independent data ownership rights. Our Staged Severance Protocol provides a structured process for account separation with high-friction guardrails against impulsive decisions. You can export your data and close your account at any time. Personal Account data remains private throughout the process.

Is Nexus a bank?

Not initially. Phase 1 will be a PFM app that connects to your existing banks. In Phase 2, we'll partner with a licensed bank to offer Nexus accounts. Phase 3 involves becoming a fully licensed Australian bank. This phased approach ensures we prove our system works before taking on full banking responsibilities.

How secure is my financial data?

Security is constitutional for Nexus. We use bank-grade encryption, zero-trust architecture, and regular security audits. Personal Account data is architecturally isolated with independent encryption keys. We're committed to obtaining relevant certifications including ISO 27001 and SOC 2 Type II.

Does Nexus provide financial advice?

No, Nexus provides tools and frameworks but not personal financial advice. Our Life Hub features guide you through decision-making processes and provide relevant information, but all financial decisions remain your responsibility. We recommend consulting qualified professionals for significant financial decisions.

What's the 50/25/15/10 split?

The Nexus Way budget split: 50% Essentials (bills, groceries), 25% Growth (investments, wealth building), 15% Stability (emergency funds, buffers), 10% Rewards (guilt-free spending). This proven framework focuses on building resilience while maintaining lifestyle balance. The system helps you transition gradually to this optimal allocation.

Can I try Nexus before committing?

We're planning beta testing opportunities for early access users. During development, we'll also be conducting user research sessions and feedback opportunities. Join our early access list to be notified about testing opportunities and preview features.

What if only one partner wants to use Nexus?

While Nexus is designed for couples, individual use is possible. You can manage your personal finances through the system and use single-person versions of most features. However, the collaborative features (Co-op System, shared Accords, joint goals) require both partners to participate.

How do you make money?

We believe in transparent business models. Our revenue will come from subscription fees for our PFM services and eventually banking services. We do not sell user data, show ads, or engage in practices that create conflicts between our interests and our users' financial wellbeing.

What about international users?

Nexus is initially being developed for Australian users under Australian financial regulations. We'll consider international expansion based on demand and regulatory feasibility. If you're outside Australia, you can still join our early access list to stay updated on international availability.
