The Accords Hub

Provide a centralized system for the Couple to define, manage, and automate shared agreements regarding financial behaviors, spending, and goal prioritization. The core principle: Preemptive Collaboration and Conflict Prevention. All joint financial decisions are guided by mutually agreed rules.

What Are Accords?

Formalized rules that dictate how funds, goals, and decisions are handled within the Couple. Each Accord prevents negotiation friction and unilateral actions that could undermine shared goals.

Six Types of Accords

Surplus Accords

Define what happens when a bucket has leftover funds at the end of a cycle.

Example: "All surplus Reward funds roll into Date Night fund first, then Growth if cap reached."

Shortfall Accords

Define actions if a bucket falls below target percentage.

Example: "If Essentials > 60%, draw from Growth first before touching Stability."

GoalDrive Accords

Rules for saving toward shared goals and recovery plans.

Example: "If GoalDrive behind schedule, auto-allocate 10% of weekly leftover funds."

Bill & Subscription Accords

Automatic handling of recurring payments and transitions.

Example: "Monthly Netflix auto-increment to meet Annual payment seamlessly."

Emergency/Pledge Accords

Govern collaborative response to unplanned large expenses.

Example: "Dual-auth if Shared Card deficit > $200; allocate from Shared Capital first."

Behavioral Nudge Accords

Optional rules to guide spending behaviors or enforce caps.

Example: "Reward bucket cannot exceed 10% until Essentials ≤ 50%."

Real-World Examples

Weekly Surplus Scenario

Situation: Essentials 64% (high due to mortgage), Reward 7% (below target)

Trigger: Surplus Accord activates

Action: Auto-allocate 3% to Reward (prioritized), remainder to Growth

Result: Balanced buckets without manual intervention

Emergency Expense

Situation: Shared Card overdrawn by $250

Trigger: Emergency Accord activates

Action: Dual authorization required, pull $150 from Shared Capital, $100 from Reward

Result: Conscious, collaborative decision-making
